We are making progress on purchasing the Methodist Chapel. Having agreed the purchase price with the Methodists some months ago, we are now going through the legal process. This is taking longer than we expected with the purchase now delayed to August 2026. This is due to a couple of small discrepancies in the current Land Registry plans, which is currently being resolved by the Methodists. Once we have the final Land Registry plans, the necessary searches can be carried out prior to exchange of contracts.
We have applied for planning permission for a Change of Use of the Chapel, to ensure we will be permitted to run a community shop, café and community space from there. We are still waiting for a decision. We will then be ready to finalise our plans, seeking the necessary advice to ensure we will meet all the necessary Building Regulations and seek more detailed costings of the work required. As soon as we have purchased the Chapel, we can apply for grants to go towards the cost of renovation.
