Fare Share

Wednesday are Fare Share days.

The Cheriton Fitzpaine Community shop takes part each week in the Fare Share food-waste project. This initiative enables us to collect produce from the Crediton branch of Tesco on its ‘sell-by day’ but whilst is still has a certain number of ‘use by’ days to go. This produce is offered to the community when the newspaper stall is open from 7 – 10 am on a Wednesday and customers are asked to give a small donation to the community shop fund. Other community groups can be given this produce too so just ask if you are interested. There is always a large quantity of bread on offer and if you cannot use it quickly, the advice is to freeze it straight away and use it when you are ready. When there are quantities of vegetables on offer, recipes will be available for nourishing soups.
